Starter question
Just got the 84 E350 6.9l C6 3.55 back on the road.
Had to replace starter.
Any way my question is the old starter was made in Japan and the guy at Oreilly said it was a better starter than the rebuilt that he had.
The new rebuilt is bigger than the old one in diameter.
I quess my question is, "Are there different starters for this engine and are some better than others?" Also is this starter okay. The van does start better than it ever has since I have had it. Quicker anyway.
It doesn't start as quick as my 85 300td nonturbo MB but I have never had any thihg fire as quick as it. Even gas rigs.
Thanks in advance for any comments.
Tnx for responding.
I just din't know there were different starters for the 6.9.
What were they used on from the factory? Did the F series get a different starter than the E series. Or were they by GVW or for some other reason.
Just queruious.
Delco and Mitsubishi were the two most popular ones.
The Delco is a direct drive, bigger diameter housing starter.
The Mitsubishi is a gear reduction starter, long and skinny.
The Mitsubishi is the best starter by far.
