Yes, if you're changing from one type of injector to another you need to have the tunes to run them. So whether you do that by changing the program on the chip or having the PCM re-flashed you have to make the change some how. My understanding is that it will run with the wrong program it just won't run right. It's kinda like putting stage I's in a truck with a PCM programmed for stock injectors. They will run, but you're not seeing the benefit of the I's until you have the tunes to run them. Going from Split shots to Single shots, though I don't know if it will run without changing the tunes. The Splits (like AD's) and Singles (AA's) are two different animals.
For a just in case kinda deal I'm having the 97's PCM flashed, or whatever DP-Tuner does, to account for the injectors and other mods. So if the chip ever fails the engine will still be good to go.
Yeah those are the same as what you have, but $150 is a really good price. They're worth more than that as cores. I'd gobble them up if it were me. You can sell them as cores to an injector builder for at least $250-300.
