I would like to replace my stock center console with one from an Excursion...I have seen this "mod" done a few places on the 'Net and it looks great. Does anyone know where I could get hold of an Excursion center console in flint gray color and without the rear stereo controls?
First and foremost, the flint gray (known as Charcoal) is VERY hard to come by. The Chacoal gray interior on the Excursion only ran for 2 model years (2000 and 2001) and even then it was extremely rare. You could probably score one off of ebay from an XLT, but if won't have the woodgrain on it. Also, you probably won't be able to find one without radio controls either. The "Comfort and Convenience" package was very popular option for the X. Very few of them (even XLTs) were sold without them. But check ebaymotors and you might get lucky.
I bought the rear part of the console to put in my KR so my wife could have cupholders in the back (she rides back there with the 4mo old) - the stereo controls/powerpoint came with the deal. It's one of the best things I've done.

But, a cheaper option is just to change out the rear portion of your existing console. Go to 1stfordparts.com and ask for a quote for a 2004 front console rear Flint cupholder, and a Rear Flint trim panel, you might as well ask for the power point also. There are multiple items that can be retrofitted into the stereo control area. Some have even fashioned a plate and installed a Inverter there. Some have also gotten the Radio Controls and wired them to the stereo, just like in the Excursion.
