When I changed my tires for upcoming winter, I checked on my brake pads (okay my method was not very scientific so pls bear with me) and I have the fronts pads about as thick as the metal backing, whereas the rears are a lot thicker.
In my previous 94 Galant, I had the front pads used-up almost to the metal and the caliper piston rubber boot held, no problem.
In my wife's 98 V70, the rubber boot broke away from the caliper, when front pads were about as thick as the metal backing, the rotors being still within spec. Eventually, the pistons rusted, and I had a frozen break.
Thus my question, am I still good for the winter? (getting cold to work on vehicles)
