Alright, camper is back home and needs front brakes, calipers (drivers side sticks), rubber flex hoses and pads (keeping the original rotors as they are still in great shape!)
Everything is already bought, bought in the states last weekend when we took a trip down there with it to try it out.
All from Autozone.
My question is the pads, the only ones they had were "semi metallic" pads.
I know there is 3 kinds of brake pad material, the ceramic ones witch last forever, but eat away the rotors, the ones that wear out fast, and leave a crap load of brake dust everywhere, and theres the good kind witch I want, they leave minimun brake dust, and they DON'T eat the rotors.
Not for sure what Autozone sells but I can say I use pads from Napa that come in a blue box..Not their cheap line and they might call them Semi Metallic.. I use them on my wifes mail Jeep. They are the best pad I have found that lasts the longest with out bad rotor wear. Now I do have to use good rotors. The cheap ones will not last through the first set of pads...They may be called True Stops.. I can't remember for sure. I just get them every three months and they are in a blue box..
I personally go with the higher end stuff, i have ceramic pads with the higher end rotors on the front end of the 84, I pull a gooseneck so I need to be able to stop like quick if i loose speed control going down one of the many montana mountain passes.
I don't wanna take a chance with the ceramic pads. The rotors on the camper are the original OEM ones from 1987. They were re-surfaced as well as the original drums by the previous owner in 1998, but that's it.
Glad to hear I got the right ones! We did do a brake job on this thing, ummm maybe 7ish years ago, can't remember witch kind of pads we got for it, or even where they come from. I'd have to check in the massive pile of receipts I have for all the stuff that's been done on that camper!
Just trying to save the rotors as they are expensive!
