Anyone have pics of a 67-72 painted flat black? on red steel wheels if possible. My truck needs paint (and body work). The original steel wheels are sitting in the rafters of our shop. I'm a big fan of the old school bare bones look, I think it'd look sweet done up like this but some things look better in my head than when its sitting there for real.
well the satin black look will fade within a few months if not done right. ppg sells special ratrod paint to do it. black primer will just rust the truck from the inside out. it will keep moisture under it and rot the metal. you can also spray a satin clear to protect it.
Well What we did in the old days was to primer the car with a paint gun (not a rattle can) and then we would wax over the top of the primer..... But as mentioned above PPg and House of Kolors, and a few others now make a paint the has the waxed primer look... Good Luck!
If you just want to see waht it looks like maybe someone can photoshop a pic for you. I know thats what I try when I wanna see what somthing looks like.
I myself am toying with the idea of going blue and white like my truck is now, reversing the colors or going 2001 Liquid gray and 1972 oxford white. All Of which I will try to get photoshopped to get an "idea" of what it would look like.
What you do is use Chroma 1, single stage, gloss black urethane and use a flattening agent, to make it semi-gloss. That way it will be sealed. Primer does not seal.

I didn't say anything about primer. It needs paint anyway, and since it fits into my budget its getting done right, not behind my shop with spray cans. Thanks for the pic crewzmaster.
