76 F-150 2wd 460 is "My Baby" cause she has stuck it out with me thru thick and thin, no matter how bad i treat her.....occasionally she has another B name that i wont repeat here, but i only call her that when she IS being one!!
78 F-250 4x4 snowfighter is called "Big Daddy", it came to me while we where towing it with a towbar with a 90 dodge diesel from Erie PA to Okc OK, it got that name cause that "Big Daddy" was shoving that dodge ALL over the road for 1300 miles!!! it was the longest rollercoaster ride ive ever been on!!!!
What's in a name?
Like most of ya'll, my wife has some pretty colorful names to describe our ford. Heck, she has colorful names for my 79 toyota wagon too. For that matter, she usually has some pretty colorful names for me, too.
But of all the things we call my beloved 79 F350 custom CrewCab, my 3 year old son named it best.
His first words were "J-jah" and that has stuck to this day. He calls cars "autos" and he'll differenciate between "autos" and "petas" (beetles). He even calls all sorts of jeep style vehicles "Jee-barbas" en honor of a bearded friend of ours and his old 60-something nissan patrol.
But J-jah,... I never could figure it out at first. Till one day while riding shotgun with me, he started to mimic me driving and you could here him murmurring (as he changed gears) J...... jah.......j......jah.
LMAO If I named my husband's vehicles they would be POS Toyota (75 Celica that's in DEPLORABLE shape) and THAT F'IN' PILE OF GARBAGE OF A SPEEDBUMP (1967 Triumph GT6 -- I don't mind the Celica, it was his dad's car, has toyota prototype parts on it -- his dad was a toyota engineer --but I DESPISE the Triumph. He made the mistake of setting the body in the yard in front of where I park my truck...there's a LOT of ice on that ground, and my brakes are soft....he has said so himself...)
My wife has affectionately (and sometimes no so affectionately) nicknamed my 77 Ford "the Mistress" since she takes all my time and money, well time anyway.
the official name is berniece, im not sure why but it has kinda stuck. most of the time i call her baby (please get me home baby, why do you think you have to do that to me baby, common baby just run please) i havent named the car yet, any ideas for a name for an 84 t-bird.
well i named my '77 gretchen. wanted to name my daughter that but the wife said that wasn't going to happen and i all ready have a baby, it's sitting out in the timber wrecked but awaiting its revival .
My old rig gets the name " YOU AGRIVATING SON OF A W****!". And on he good days its referred to as the "old girl." Friends of mine call it sherrie though. My grandfather wrote the name of on of my girlfriends (not anymore) on the passenger her name was sherrie. But when grampy gets drinkin' its spelled "shrie"
My 76 F100 4x4 is Betty or as my fiancee calls her, my other girlfriend.
My 80 F250 4x4 is called Frogs. It was my dad's truck for years until I bought it from him. The first day he brought it home in 79, we went mud riding in it. I was 3 years old then and I thought all the mud flipping up in the air was frogs. From then on I called the truck froggy or frogs and the name stuck.
My 73 F-100's name is Evangaline in honour of my grandma Nanny MacKenzie who's name is also Evangaline. Both she and my truck are oldy but goodies with their age showing on the outside but still full of rip, snort, and attitude on the inside.
