how common was the vinyl roof? on both build sheets form ford it lists a vinyl roof in green. was this a common option? my truck no longer has it and the previous owner remembers taking something off like that before painting it. i have never seen this on any other truck.
Ford offered a sprayed on "vinyl" roof for trucks back in the 60's, although not common I remember seeing a few in their day. Dealers often installed vinyl tops as extra profit items in the 70's and 80's, until the popularity of those roof treatments declined. If you want a replacement, any auto trim shop can help you.
ive seen a few 67-72 fords with the spray on viny roof,i cant recall seeing 73-79 trucks with it . i dont really like the look personally. i guess it was popular back then.kinda like vans with side pipe exhaust, big huge wheel well flares on cars, wire wheel hubcaps with spinners, etc.(just my view)
