I must say after way too much research I decided on Flowmaster deltaflow 50 instead of the Magnaflow. Had it installed today and I am pretty satisfied with the sound, not to loud at idle and sounds pretty good on take off, defenitley can tell something is there. The shop that did the work had three for me to try, and imo this sounded the best, kinda of in between the 40 and the Magnaflow. I have a nice rolled tip welded on and everything cost 200.00. I wonder if the Flowmastre will change tone over time? Anyhow I would recomend the 50 for the v10. This is the Delta flow 50 not the SUV one
mine has a flow master big block 50 now and it's great sounding also. "for my old fart mind anyway"
imm for me it's deep enough and loud enough.the 70 was nice but not deep big block in sound.
good luck with the ride

I saw the 50HD after I had mine put on, is the HD suppose to louder? Also did yours get any louder over time? Thanks
the hd as you call is a big block design, truth be it i don't know if it's louder then a std. 50. but my guess is ????, it is louder and deeper then then a 70 and sounds good with this odd sounding v10.
With these flowmaster mufflers...what size (diameter) are you running with the V-10's?...both muffler and pipe...3" or 4"?
Also, what is the standard pipe size for these V-10's? I am planning a purchase REAL soon (within a week) of a 2002 or 2003 SD V-10 and am trying to find out all I can.
vwabeer...Thanks for the input. Like your setup with the dual pipes back from the Flowmaster 40.
I am planning a Volant cold air intake...so as they say, "Let more air in, must let more air out". I suppose I could go with a larger diameter pipe from the muffler back. Will have to see on that one. My muffler choice so far is the Flowmaster 70 Big Block II.
Be carefull on the 70 Flowmaster, not sure if your going after sound but have heard that the 70 sounds stock. My advise to you is do a search on this subject v10 exhaust and the majority will say FM 40. The reason that I went with the 50 is I wanted the sound to be louder, without being to ricey. So far I am happy with the 50, could be a little louder BUT the v10 is a beast all its own .good luck. The shop that did mine was able to hold three different ones in place while I jumped on the gas, and to me the 50 was a good in between sound. The three choices were Flomaster deltaflow 40 ..50 and Magnaflow.
I have had my 2004 F350 S/C V10 (only 8800 mi on it at delv) for about one month now. Three days after I picked it up, I headed to the muffler shop. I have used this site to decide on the engine and muffler. I was concerned the FM 40 would be a little too loud and decided on the FM 50 Delta. The shop tried to suggest the big block 70, but I told them what I heard about hte FM 40 or FM50. It was the FM 50 Delta. It definitely made an improvement on sound and power. The sound is not too loud. I added a simple K&N air filter to the stock air box. I noticed an improvement in acceleration and power. Now I just have to keep my foot out of the gas pedal to get the best mileage.
