What controller do you have? I just installed a Tekonsha Prodigy and it only took me 15 minutes to wire up and mount. Lemme know a little more detail on what you question is and I'll help you hook it up right.

The wire harness that you are talking about is for use with an aftermarket brake controller that you have to buy, mount and then wire to the truck. The wires connect to the brake controller, then plug in under the dash. Makes it easy to mount, and even move between vehicles.
My controller came out of an Explorer, plugged right in. Put the relay that came with the tow package in, but according to the manual I am still missing a few fuses...
Is this possible, or should I have full trailer functionality (brake controller, trailer lights, charging) with only installing the relay that came in the tow package bag?
The brake controller gives me a red dot when I hit the brakes. Does this mean its working, or not working? Have to go pick the trailer up tomorrow, I hate to find out for sure (that it isnt) while Im towing the trailer back to the house...
If your controller is like mine the red dot means it is working. Once you have a trailer hooked to it the display should show the amount of braking power going to the trailer.
Good deal... The only wother thing Im concerned about because of the fuses is battery charging and lights. I guess Ill have to find out and add fuses as needed...
The relay energizes the battery charging circuit when your ignition is on and the fuses power the charging, lights, and brakes on the trailer. Be sure to put in the correct rated fuses and you should be fine.
