I mean, if I were a Supreme Court justice, I'd hate to do anything that might make for an awkward moment between me and the CEO of ExxonMobil when we bump into each other at the 19th hole of the country club.
My "corporate buddies"? I merely stated facts, was anything in my statement not correct? In your statement you imply that all 9 judges of the Supreme Court are corrupt and under the influence of big oil. Can you provide us any basis for that, or is that just a kneejerk opinion?
I think we should pass a law requiring Ford to produce more GT's, but those corrupt judges would probably strike it down before I got mine.

Yes, great concept. BUT Not everyone who has to buy energy products has equal opportunity.

This is my point.

To buy real estate you need some sort of asset or well paying job, plus, meet all the criteria related to it.

To start your own business is the same.

A person can get a high school educaton, go to college and become financially successful before they turn 40 and still become desitute.

This is my point.

Most talk is of Possiblities.

My talk is of reality and what can and does happen to people.

Fate & Destiny.

Why has the majority of society in Canada & US lived off the *middle income* part of society.

Some rich people can end up poor too.

Many rich people become poor. But many poor people become rich. And them going to college and then become financially successful and then become desitute is wrong. If they were successful they why did they end up with little money? Not planning for th emost part. Look at how most people are these days( in the USA anyway, dont know about your homeland) Everybody has to have the best and biggest and newest. They make 20k a year they spend 25k, they get a promotion and make 40k a year so they spend 50k. They make the income they have to have the house, car and toys to show it. Its not how much you make, its how you much you keep.

The biggest problem is with my generation( I'm 21). We have to have instant gratification. We see something we want we just put it on plastic. Thats why 50% of college graduates declare bankruptcy now and there were more people that declared bankruptcy in 2004 than in the 1960's combined. We DO NOT know how to control our spending habits.

And I'm not wealthy nor is my parents. My parents are currently both unemployeed( dad quit farming and is abou to turn the land over(he rented he didnt own) and my mom quit her job and is having trouble finding another). I live in an efficiency behind a house. But I dont plan to stay like this and live paycheck to paycheck. I was taught to go to college, get good grades and get a good high paying job with a pension( or benefits). But that no longer exists. garranteed jobs no longer exist, look at how many people are being laid off, pensions are no longer garranteed, look at Delphi or GM or any number of companies. Hell the USA govt agency that takes over those pensions when they company says it can not pay for then is running a deficit.

i dont plan to climb the corporate ladder. I plan to own the corporate ladder. People just need to turn off the tv and read a book and expand their mind and see that its not near as hard as many make it seem to buy real estate or start a biz. The reason many say it is hard is because they didnt try hard enough becasue we are taught it should be given to us. If the biz fails or the real estate deal doesnt work out, then study why it failed and try again. The best way to learn is to fail, success teaches little.

I truely believe anyone no matter their education or race or religion or whatever can become as rich as they want. Its making up your mind you're tired of lifing life waiting for the next paycheck and working for the freedom you dreamed of when you were a kid and achieving your dreams.

This is a "People need it so we will charge want we want (inclduing the taxes on it) because people who can afford it will pay it" philosophy, & those that can't....... well too bad

?

My thinking... from what I have witnessed,

Life is all about money, timing, destiny & fate.

Someone has to do the $6.00/hour or less job.[/QUOTE]

Is that the same reason they have 20" televisions and 50" plasma Televisions in the same store?

I suppose corporations are allowed to make as much profit as they want, but is it moral? That's for everyone to decide for themselves. If we don't like the price of gas, we should use less. That's the way this market works.

I see so many Excursions, Expeditions, and Suburbans(don't wanna leave chebbie out) with only one occupant, it makes me sick. And they all fly past me at greater than the speed limit. Everyone's in a hurry, and they're all burning fuel like there's no tomorrow.

Tomorrow's here, and we brought it here. Consuming in mass quantities costs money, and now we pay the piper. Be glad the gov't doesn't tax fuel and gas guzzlers the way they do in Europe.
The price of diesel has not risen to its current state because of home heating oil! It's been cheaper than gasoline for years...because it's cheaper to make. Did you guys (I'm from the south, heating oil is almost nonexistent here) not use heating oil in years past? I'm sure you did, and diesel did not jump above the gasoline price.

Sure, some people do not need to drive the big vehicles, but some do, and just because you see them with one person in them doesn't mean that when they get to their destination they aren't loading it with 7. Some people are struggling just to buy fuel to get to and from work, this is fair?
