I saw these yeserday for the first time in AutoZone. Im curious myself on how well these work. I went to the Better Built web site, but they provided no additional information on it.
BlueSCab: I'm looking to outfit my SC with a wheelwell toolbox but I'm still researching brands, types and other options. The Better Built brand, as you probably already know, is pre-drilled to accomodate the Grip-Rite toolbox mounts (or so I've been led to believe).
For your information, the AutoZone stores in my area want $29.99 for the Grip-Rites. I found them for under $19.00 at Lowes.
I am new to this site and have a product that I have made up to make your AIC unit go a long way as far as dressing up your cab look .If the image doesn`t show up just give me an e-mail and I will be more then happy to send one out to you.
Do these mounts make the toolbox relatively removeable? In other words can the box be removed/replaced in a few minutes? Looking for the ability to remove the toolbox when I want to haul bigger loads such as a motorcycle and replace box soon there after.
northernsnooker - yes, pretty easy to remove. I run the two bolts out of each side of the toolbox and can lift it right off. That leaves the clamps on the bed rail. Makes it easy to reinstall too. Just line up the holes in the box with the holes in the clamps and run the bolts in.
I have had a time or two where I'd catch something on one of the clamps and it would kind of twist, so it had to be lined back up for reinstalling the box, but not a big deal at all.
