I'm saying that it's stupid to remove the radiator cooler if you are in a warmer climate. They say to leave the cooler in place in a cold climate.
Why do you need the extra cooling when it's cold? You need it when it's hot.
The real problem is that TCI (and many others, too) seem to think that the radiator is there to heat the trans fluid. IT DOES NOT HEAT THE TRANS FLUID IN THE WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It cools the trans fluid, in the summer and especially in the winter.
If you don't believe me next time it's really cold get you truck well warmed up and check out how how the cold side of the radiator is. That's the side where the trans cooler is located. You will find that it is nearly the same temperature as the outside air.
I got what you're saying Casey. I've never put my hand on the bottom of a radiator when it's warm because I know how hot the top is. On my aluminum rad the cooler is on the side and I know if I touch that while I'm at operating temp it'll fry my hand but it's a different setup than the stock unit.
77, feel free to diagree with me any time I'm wrong.
