I've got tomorrow off and I want to head to the junk yard to purchase some perches to install a 460 in a 76 F100. Can anyone offer any specs or advice to help me identify the correct perches. I don't want to pick the incorrect perches.
The best advise I can offer is to check the vin tag for a "J" code engine, for your perches, do you already have the mounts themselves? if not you might want to look for a complete setup, mounts and all, to my knoledge the perches have no part numbers so you'll have to hope (being as your not familiar with what your looking for) that someone hasn't put some other engine into a "J" code truck, good luck, and happy hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did the swap a year ago and i found that only 2wd trucks pearches work together. I ended up buying them from out of state. My dad owns a junkyard here in florida and i could not find them anywhere. if u have any questions feel free to Email me
Did you buy them from another junk yard or did you get them new from a store? I can't jusify purchasing new ones when I can get perfectly good ones from a junk yard. STL doesn't seem to have a lot of car enthusiasts, so I am hoping they will be available.
I went to the junk yard a few days ago looking for these perches. For the most part all I could find were FE engines and the perches won't work. Are there any other motors out there that use the same perches as the 460. I was checking the VIN tags and found everything but a 460. I'm going to try another junk yard next week.
hi, i just joined here yesterday but i have been into trucks for years. i had a 67 1 ton 2wd that i put a 460 in and then swapped it back out into a 78 +/- (its a reconstructed vehicle, serial number says 78 title doesn't agree!) 4WD. i think i still have those mounts out back in the chassis. i was saving them just in case i ever built another truck but it hasn't happened so far. if you don't find a set let me know and maybe we can work something out. hawkrod
