direcTV

When I get close to my fathers house, who has direct TV, it messes up the TV reception. I have the 6.0l Diesel in my 05 SuperDuty. They had mentioned they knew when I was coming down the road, as it does it everytime. Today I saw it first hand as I left the truck idling in the driveway. Anyone have any idea on this?

Just a guess- it is more likely that the TV is getting the interferance than the satelite. Are you using anything that puts out a signal (CB ect).

Do you have to cross the line of sight from dish to satelite? How about across the antenna cable?

Also check the signal meter when it is "normal" and have someone drive your truck in when while the meter is on and see what reaction you get.

Weird problem, my direct tv is either 100% or nothing. Never seen interferance.

Very strange....
My dog hears the diesel but doesn't complain about the DirecTV.
I know in the old cars and such, the electronic ignition put out a lot of EMP if it wasn't shielded.
I wonder if your rig has something unshielded.
Park by a friend or neighbor's dish and ask them if it interferes.
GPS or wireless network running in the truck?

Make sure the Directv dish, multiplexer or splitter is PROPERLY grounded..
I don't know if these are the problems, just throwing ideas out there.

Not seen that personally. I know there is a lot of "stuff" (technical term) in the airwaves now a days. When my mother drives past this one house in her neighborhood her cell phone goes nuts everytime. I know when she is almost home by the way it acts.

The truck is stock at the moment. I just know if I ask the dealer they are going to say I am nuts. I know I would think that unless I saw it for myself. My dad has a 7.3l Excursion that does not cause any issues. I wonder if the alternator is doing something funny.

I'll fill this one in........

What you have is "dirty power" running through your home. It's susceptable to interference from almost any source. To make a long story short, you can clean it up and shield it using a Monster Power Center on your TV and DirecTV system. The Monster power center is a surge protector and power conditioner in one. They're pricey but they prevent interference and really help with the picture quality. Check them out here The first 7 act as a power conditioner and surge protector. This will fix your problem, I guarantee it!

I'm no electrician but I'd check for bad grounds first, a lot cheaper.
