overdrive on/off switch doesnt work

i have a 99 f250 7.3 4x4 auto tranny, the switch is built into the end of the column, i have looked at the fuse panel under the steering wheel and there are no blown fuses, question is where else can i look for maybe a unpluged wire because when i bought the truck it didnt work. or a replacement, any help is appreciated thx.

The wires often break in the steering column, near where the column tilts. Take off the plastic cover and you should be able to get to it.

how do i get the top plastic housing off the column, the housing for the ignition is the only thing holding it on

Well, to remove the ignition switch people usually stick a skinny screw driver or unfolded paper clip in the small hole to press a detent and remove the ignition. Perhaps if you did that, it would allow you to remove the top piece.
