Hey guys, what all would be involved in swapping the bench seat in my 79 f100 to buckets? I have found an early 80's bronco in the junkyard, where i can get the seats. I really need to know when i drill the holes in the floor board for the bolts, do i drill all of the way through or do like ford did and try and thread the holes? I would assume the way ford did it would be safer in the event of a crash, but it really sounds like a pain to do. what do you guys think?
I have a 78 and am thinking about doing the same thing. I want to get rid of that d@mn bench. Go around a turn pretty quick and you slide around. I just dont know what vehicle to pull them from
I have a 78 F150 w/a bench also. I thought about buckets but decided to stay with the bench so I can get 3 people in.
For mounting the seats, I, too, would drill all the way through. Just make sure you have enough floor structure to hold the seats. I would also use some big washers top & bottom if the holes are not over the structural parts of the cab.
On my truck, Ford didn't thread the holes. They welded a nut to the bottom of the floor.
