Foam in valve covers

I swear I saw a post about this but my searches here and in the big block forum turned up nothing.

I have a 78 F150/460 4x4. Last night I pulled the PCV valve out so I could get a funnel into the tranny tube, and the valve seemed to have foam on it. I had just run the engine for about 10 minutes.

So, in general, what causes foam in the valve covers?

Thanks in advance!

Kevin K.

Running the engine for 10 minutes.

Try running it for 30 or so minutes and then check it out. If the T-stat and PCV are ok then it should be gone.

Normally water but it might just be condensation. Do as the last post said. After it gets hot it should evaporate.
