351w out of truck into PINTO
I got myself an 84 f250, it was given to me with a blown transfer case and no drive shaft. The motor is a 351w with 150k miles on it and it runs great. But the truck is starting to rust out and i found a 73 pinto with 11k miles on it and its only gonna cost 500$ bucks. Now i never thought i'd find myself to do this but after i saw another pinto with a 5.8 in it i fell in love. Now before u guys jump to conclusions on this subject about how im doing it let me explain. The motor, trans (4 speed granny), and the 410 rear are going into the pinto in some way, i dont have a real solid plan but its gonna have to work. But what i wanna ask is if any of u people have done this kinda thing to a pinto and if you have how fast was it? I know 71-73 pinto are the lightest somewhere around 2200 lbs and i've read that a stock 351 will run the pinto into 13's. And yes i know the things tend to explode into flames when hit from behind but i dont care as long as im havin fun!
Any comments are apriciated especially if u have any experience. Thanx

If I might ask, why the hell do you wanna put a truck transmission into a pinto? You'll probably have to hack up the trans tunnel to make it fit. And the truck rear axle will most likely be way too wide.
And...honestly, I kinda doubt a 351W with a 2-barrel and 150K on the clock is gonna get a pinto into the 13's. Thing probably has 160 hp at most by this point.

a friend I work with had mustang 2 with a 351w in it. that thing would haul the mail, let me tell you!! he was running an auto tranny, though. not sure what he was using for a rear end. when he did the swap,he did it the right way...it looked like it came factory that way. he had it painted nice, and the interior was in great shape. He ended up selling the car for around $6000 on ebay, and only had about half of that amount invested

last week i was at the gas station fillin up. i hear this rumble and look over, sure enough, a pinto WAGON with the engine stickin out of the hood and big old duals rumbles on by. My jaw mustve hit the ground, cause the guy in front of me said, "a PINTO?!" that was exactly what i was thinking! didnt look to bad though....

I had (Two) 351w pintos c-4 they had 8in rearends and the one that I raced
the most I put a 462 chunk in the 8in and I ran a 175 hp shot of NOS on it
and it ran the best was a 7.95 in the 1/8 mile with traction problems with
small slicks!
You may want to check out my gallery there are pics in there! ( hidden gallery)!

ive seen a 302 in a pinto before, no reason a 351 wouldnt work, but a creeper-1st 4 spd??? get a auto. no shift lag, just hold it to the floor and let 'er rip. dont know how you'd get the rear end to hook up, be neet to make it a.w.d. let all 4 tires be pulling for you, and make good use of that engine weight up front.

Some of the Mustang IIs came with 302s and 8-inch rear ends. The Mustang II was built on the same chassis as the Pinto, just stretched a few inches on the wheelbase so you would do well to find an 8-inch out of one and swap that in for the rear, or you're going to have to shell out some bucks to get that truck rear end narrowed. And I agree with the others about the tranny. Putting that truck tranny in there would be a major PITA and you'd never be happy with it. Go with an auto or a World Class T5 from a late-model Mustang.
And to minimize the famous Pinto "Boom Factor" yank that stock gas tank and replace it with a fuel cell.
And don't forget to beef up the chassis a bit. The V8 Mustang IIs also had an extra front subframe assembly that bolted in to stiffen things up, should be adaptable for a Pinto. It'll probably bolt right in. Stiffer front spring required too.
Have fun, and don't plan on taking corners at speed. It's gonna be just a tad front-heavy! (Hmm, do I hear Aluminum heads and intake?)
