Connie ,In 79 they still used a Metal Plate on the door.
Pictured above in an earlier post.
The sticker on the door frame where the door latches started in 1980.
I have to talk specifics because there are so many terminologies being used out there.
Ok. as far as I can remember, (the truck's not here so i can't go look for sure) but I don't think there was a metal plate on either of the doors. so either they pulled it off to paint it or they've replaced the door and didn't get the plate off the old door. are either of those viable possibilities?
Thanx,

Ok. I looked at the doors saturday when I went home and there's no metal plate there. Not on the doors or on the cab around them or anything like that. I'm in the process of getting the pictures of the truck but it's still going to be a while. We got the missing problem fixed. It was the plug wires like I told my dad. There's a kind of odd rattling noise when you put it in reverse. We can't pinpoint where it's coming from and it only happens in reverse. It's not a metal banging loud noise like that but a sort of muffled rattle that's not steady. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it'll start and stop sporadically. Any ideas? The torque converter is tight. We checked all the bolts and they weren't loose when we checked them. It's a c6 tranny if that helps any. Thanx!!!!
