What Year ?

Hello, Can any one tell me how you tell what year a engine is by the s/n? My 5.0 s/n is KF179643,Can anyone help ? Thanks

Look at the casting number on the block behind the starter. First letter is the decade - c=60, d=70, e=80 etc. Second nu mber is the year in the decade. Thus e7 would be 87.
