I live in an apartment. My kitchen sink is stainless steel. No garbage disposal. The drain stinks horribly. I've used Drano, but that doesn't do anything for the smell. Drains aren't plugged, either.
Anyone have any advice on how to get rid of that smell?
Is your dishwasher drain connected to the sink drain above the P-trap
Oohhh, that's what that line is for. Dishwasher doens't work decent, so I never use it. What can be done about the smell with regards to the dishwasher line? Pull the line and plug it?
That's about the only way to fix it, even if you never again own a dishwasher. If you can't plug it properly, then removing and replacing the P-trap is the only other solution.
Before the hard work, you might try running the dishwasher with a couple cups of vinegar in it. Then after, dump a cup of vinegar into the drain, let it sit for a while, then dump a box of baking soda into the drain and let it sit there (it'll foam like crazy with the vinegar, then flush with fresh water for a few minutes.

make sure that under the sink the dishwasher drain line has a loop going up and down to the drain. water from your sink may be going back down the dishwasher drain line. also the drain inside your dishwasher my be stopped up a little and that might cause it also. if you have anymore questiopns feel free to ask. i do apartment maintenance for a living.
Once a month (or so) I like to fill up my sink( almost to the top) with hot water and mix in about a cup of bleach...Then pull the plug and let it drain. The bleach along with the rush of hot water is enough to keep those pipes clean from debris and oils which can stink after time.
