Removing Wheels

Just wondering if anyone else has run into this and if so, some possible remedies......

I was attempting to change front brakes, and no way no how could I get the passenger side wheel off. Its just plain stuck. Same scenario on both back wheels. Brakes looked OK on the front when I did a visual from underneath, but eventually, those things gotta come off for the snowshoes to go on for the winter. I dont own a torch (yet), so any ideas?

wow, ive never run into that before, ive had trouble getting the rear drums off, but never had issues with the rims being stuck to the hubs before. soak it good with wd-40 and bang on the rim near the hub with a hammer, thats all i would know how to do besides threading log chain through the spokes of the rim and yanking sideways with a farm tractor.

Haven't had this problem before but I think what I might try is to put the lug nuts back on loose and let the jack down a little to let the weight of the truck onto the tires and see if that doesn't break them loose.

Its probably just stuck to the rotor hat. Usually a few whacks with a BFH will knock them loose.

Years ago at the tire shop, we'd occasionally run into this problem. We used the BFH.

If you do this, and if you have alloy wheels, make sure it's a non-metal hammer, or use a piece of wood in between so you don't damage the wheel. Penetrating oil soaking on the hub helps too.

I had this problem too, I tried loosening the lugs and lowering the jack, shaking the truck, etc, nothing worked. I ended up using a large 3 jaw puller and it finally popped off and didnt damage the wheel. I coated the back of the wheel with a light coat of anti-sieze grease just so I dont have to go this again.

someone used too much impact gun. if you have access to one or a bud has one try it, maybe even a 3/4 or 1" drive but beeeeecareful for the love of god! if its not the lugs your talking about, the e-brake sounds like a good possibility because i've never heard of the wheel itself getting stuck. one of the studs could very well be bent because of over tightening or not tight enough that has happened in the past to quit a few people i know!

I worked at a tire shop for 3 years and we had trucks come in all the time with the rim stuck to the hub. Most of the time it was because off the different types of medal fuessing together (the rim being alloy and the hub steel). all you have to do is either get a BFH and hit around on the back side of the rim, or just kick the crap out of it on the front. go back and fourth on both sides of the tire. It takes some time sometimes. then others it will come off with one good kick. GL

I have a 1995 f-150 4x4 with those funky ford wagon/turbo wheels...had same problem of wheel not wanting to come off. was away from home and my torch set.... My brother "helped" me with the BFH technique and now I need a wheel. I took a propane torch and heated the center of the wheel near the hub/lugnut area and gave the tire a good kick and it came right off HEAT is the way to go
