wheel bearing adjustment method

So I've just replaced both front wheel brakes: pads, rotors, calipers, flexible lines, hardware, wheel bearings and seal. Got everything together, and Ford service manual specs the wheel bearing adjustment to be done with wheel OFF and also caliper off! C'mon, now. Every other car i've owned you do it with the wheel on. Can't you just do it that way?....

BTW, manual says tighten adjustment nut 20-25 ft. lbs. while turning wheel in opposite direction. Then back off adjustment nut 1/4 turn and lock down the nut using the castle crown and cotter pin.

I;ve allways done it with the wheels off spin rotor as you tighten it, I just go until it gets kinda tight on the spin I'd say 10-15lbs and back off until it free spins then a 1/8 of a turn to get the key in, Its not loose but there is very little drag..i want the least amount of drag as possible...Then reinstall everything and your good to go.
