The irony. I bought a tank meant for a Ford when I should have got one for a Chev Turns out that the older Ford 1 ton frames are 2 inches narrower than the later model trucks (same size as a chev). Got a great deal on a 24 gallon steel tank for the truck and it was 1" too wide to fit between the frame rails. Also had to move the rear crossmember back 3" so that the pumpkin wouldn't hit the tank. Looks pretty hacked now, but the whole back of the frame will get boxed and and cleaned up.
Looks good from here, having the tank way in the back should help with a little extra weight when you are not loaded. What are you planning for a flat bed with the tank sitting up that high?
Should be fine, the flatbed decks are generally 4-6" above the frame. The only goofy thing I'll have to do is cut and sleeve some holes for the hoses to pass through.
