Back to work 53 F350

My 53 project has been ignored for 6 months, finally have some time to work on it. Last step before painting up the frame was to finish weld the splices on the bottom. I hate welding up side down, so this seemed easier

Tonight, lots of cleaning/degreasing of the frame so that I can get a coat of RustBullet on it.

Looks good ,
Glad to see your back on the old truck.
Have to agree, welding upside down is no fun.

I was wondering what happened to you. Its amazing how "life" happens when you least expect itand 6 months goes flying by.

Glad to see that you are getting back to it. Nice solution to welding overhead

Frame all covered in rust bullet. Front suspension still needs to be stripped, painted and lowered. Rest of the frame will be getting covered in bedliner in the next couple days.

That duplicolor spray liner doesn't cover nearly as much area as they say. Still need a couple more cans, but the axle can go back on tonight.

Everything covered but the IFS. Next step is to put the back brakes back together and run all the brake lines. Need to save up a few $$ for some drop spindles for the front before I pull apart the IFS.

Cool. Keep us updated. The rust bullet looks like it worked pretty good.

About $400 worth of brake stuff later. That dually stuff is big and expensive. Got the front lowering spindles on order today. 2.5" drop spindles and 2" drop springs should get it sitting about right.

I am feeling more and more motivated....

Did you sandblast the frame or use a wire wheel? What degreaser did you use?

All I did was wash the frame with a kitchen scrub sponge and some industrial degreaser, no wire wheel or sand blasting. The degreaser is a waterbased solution from ChemSearch, bought a 55 gal drum from a machine shop that was closing down don't remember what the product name was.

The rustbullet bonds with the rust, and my frame wasn't bad to start with - a lot of it still had the black factory paint. Rustiest part of the frame was the 79 C30 section.
