Members Trucks

Hey all, as I have been going through all these posts I just got to wondering about the trucks everyone has.

How about posting a little about your trucks, things like what you have, a little history, mods you have done and ones you might have planned. I think it would be interesting for all who come to this forum as well as let us all get a little familiar with other members trucks. Then maybe we can have a little more idea what you are talking about when you mention the ride.

I'll put this up as a sticky to see if there is an interest in having a thread about our trucks. Let me know what you all think.

"well as we speak I am in the process of switching rides. i am moving on from my wiring problematic, driveshaft chewing F250 longbed supercab to my 72 Ford bronco halfcab.

I am leaving the stock 302 2barrel in right now but have a 351EFI sitting in the barn. I am about to bolt in my freshly rebuilt NP435 behind the 302 with a pretty looking LuK clutch kit. then behind the 435 I have a freshly rebuilt D20 twinsticked with extreme duty 32 spline output. i have ordered some 5.5" BC Bronco coils to bolt on top of my D60 front coil converted with wristed arm setup. matched to the D60 front I am bolting in the sterling 10.25 just to match lug patterns. both front and rear axles are welded for added traction

for the tid bits... i recently acquired a hydroboost brake booster that will be used to stop my 39" Iroks. seeing as there is lil room for a gearbox i thought it'd be a perfect excuse to go full hydro. as soon as I get my orbital valve i will have full hydro steering. gonna bolt up the 8274 Warn to a homemade bumper (haven't even thought of yet). the floor is all rusted out so i am replacing the sheet metal with expanded metal so i can see whats going on beneath me as well as around me. working on a custom full family cage

now since my bronco is welded F/R and I know i 'll prolly trailer it from trailhead to trailhead i have a powerstroke diesel that i use to haul my toy around. its a 96 F350 PSD crew cab, long bed, ZF 5 speed, ranch hand bumpers front and rear, 35" buckshot mud tires wrapped around a set of Pacer aluminum wheels, fold down goosneck hitch (to accomodate my 20' flatbed g/n with dual Dexter 6k lb axles both with brakes), open element air filter (6637 mod), tymar 3-3.5" downpipe, true 4.5" straight pipe all the way behind the rear axle, autometer pyro and boost gauges, pioneer sound system with a kicker square 12 behind the rear seat.

planned mods... 5" smoke stacks, injectors, custom burned chip, air lockers front and rear, receiver hitch winch, AIC, and an intercooler for better turbo protection

-cutts-"

I have a 1989 F-150 Super Cab, with a 300 & T-18 that I drug back from the family ranch at Christmas. WHen I got it out of the shed it was in, it had 3 different size tires (and rims) on it. So, the first mod, was to find the other 3 factory wagon wheel rims (it still had one), and get some common tires (picked up a couple 31" BFG's at the used tire shop in town to go with the 31" Coopers that we had). SInce then, I've cut off the exhaust at the back of the cab (the rest was 3 pieces dangling from hangars), and rebuilt the ps pump.

Planned mods:

BODY - the truck has been rolled and used to herd cattle, the only (mostly) straight panel on it is the hood, that only has a dozen or so hail dents. So, a new(er) Cab, and a new box (or at least new outside panels).

BUMPERS: The front factory bumper and Luverne brush guard suck. I am designing a new one-piece bumper and guard. Rear bumper is a chrome drop. It's better than stock, but still beat up from afore mentioned ranch use. That too will be replaced with a new design. Both bumpers will be of 3/16 and 1/4 construction with powder coat.

SUSPENSION: Getting an extra set of TTB hardware from FORDNUT1985. Those will be modified in the Zimmerman Explorer style to accomodate a 4-6" lift. Radius arms will be lengthened to pivot in line with T-case output. Rear springs will be replaced with a set to match the front.

TIRES: 36 - 38 inch range. Probably closer to the small size.

ENGINE: I'll keep my tractor motor. Help it breathe a little better and be done with it.

OTHER: Gears, as needed. Interior- vinyl floor, better gauges, CB radio.

I'm sure there'll be some tweaks and changes along the way but that should cover most of it.

1990 F350 crew, 8ft bed, SRW, 4x4, 351W, BW1356, D60, 10.25, 4.10 gears, open diffs.

Ex-US Air Force truck bought at auction.

Engine (DONE): Didn't run when I bought it, missing teeth from the flexplate. Now with the flexplate replaced, running like a champ. Dynomax high flow cat, magnaflow muffler. No engine mods planned. Slow as crap.

Body (ALMOST DONE): Like every other truck in the midwest, rusty. Bad floors and bedsides. Replaced driver's side front floor and rocker panel, drivers rear rocker panel. Need to replace passenger floor pan. 2 gallons of spray on bedliner for cab floor and a new bed.

Tires / Wheels (WANT TO INSTALL BUT WON'T FIT IN GARAGE): right now I have 3 sets. 37x13.50R17 Toyo Open Country MT, 37x12.50R17 Goodyear MT/R, 37x12.50R17 BFG M/T. 5 Hummer H2 Wheels. I'll probably go with the Toyo's first and 1 Goodyear as a spare.

Suspension (TO BE DONE): 6 in. springs for the front (don't know what brand, they were used), rear - don't know yet, was thinking about a shackle flip, but I want to use the truck for hauling / towing also, so I'm not sure if the stock shackle in a compression setup will hold the load a F350 is capable of.

Future wants and desires (PROBABLY NEVER DO / HAVE): Detroit lockers front and rear, MM 12000lb hydro winch, shackle reversal for the front axle, time to drive it, winning lottery ticket (or Ivan's bank account), etc.

White 1993 Ford F350 7.3L turbo diesel (just rebuilt it), ZF-5 spd, BW 1536, D60 with hydrosteer / 10.25" FF LS both 3.55's on 35" BF G-AY Terrains. Mods are DPS Stage 1 injectors, ATS turbo housing upgrade, DPS Headstuds, Holley Red Pump, ISSPRO 3 pod pillar guages... simple right now, but itll get better. Such as 46" Michie XL's and lift to accomodate them, then lockers when money comes for those. Very soon should be water/methanol injection or propane injection to gain hp and (mainly) mpg...

Pics of everything ive done so far, except for the rebuild... those are coming:

My firdt truck is an 82 f-150 flareside, anyway we've gone through it fron to back top to bottom, completely redone interior done by myself, it includes bucket seat from a tauras, alpine sound system, centre oak console, custom built sub boxes for two 1o inch JL audio subs, new carpet and a virgin dash pad, door panels from a 91 truck, then it has a 350 hp 351W, edlebrock 4barrel, small rv cam, 10:1 CR, 1.93/1.6 vavles and a lot of port wok to match the larger valves, then a toploader 4sp with a hurst shifter, rebuilt 9" with 3.25 gears and a rebuilt LS, then up front it has a ll new brakes bearnings, etc, and th eibeams are out of a 95, then it has a 2/4 drop, and i added heavy stabilizer bars new shocks and a set of slapper style traction bars to help prevent some bad wheel hop. Future plans intclude a rear disc brake swap and a new paint job along with a lot of body work and a few mods.

My second is my 80 mudder, known as bits'n pieces. Anyway we drug it home from a pick'n pull for 300 bucks. then it sat for three year before we did something with it. And now its what you see. the interior is gutted except for the essentials, it has a 6 inch lift fabbed by yours truely, a dana 60 with a lockright and 4.10s, and rear 10.25 with a lockright and 4.10s. it has a 400 with just a holley 750dp and an edlebrock single plane 4 barrel, but it will be getting a HEI dizzy, cam 4v quench heads and a few other items here over the next few months. Theres more, but it'll have to wait for another time as theres stuff to do .

Pictures of both trucks are in my gallery.

Gray/rust 1978 F-250 4x4. 460 swap backed by a NP435/NP205 combo. 4" unknown lift, custom front leaf packs, stock rear leafs. 38" tires, D44 front/D61 LS rear with modified ladder bars. Right now the truck is apart in about 17 different sections, slowly being put back together as a kind of psuedo restoration/weekend toy

Pretty standard truck as it sits now, ain't nuthin' but time and money and ideas. . .Not gonna rattle off a list of possible mods, becuase anythings a toss up right now. Though, if the Wheelin' Gods smile on me, I will drop in an EFI turboe'd 460 and D60 front end/10.25 rear

Got pics of the teardown and SLOWWWWW build up in my gallery

I started with a 2wd that the previous owner swapped in a worked up 300 into. From there I converted it to 4wd with a combo of 150 and 250 parts. I got 3" rancho coils for the front. I repainted it with rustoleum, and put herculiner in the bed. Right now I am running a rear lockrite, 4.10s and 33" swampers. In the future, I would like to build drop brackets to eliminated the rear blocks, put 35-37" tires on because I don't like the gearing, and maybe eventually turbo the 300 for a fun project. After all that, I may get the body redone (again) with new chrome from someone like LMC or Dennis Carpenter. That is when I am making money, not going to school. I have done a bunch of other stuff, but most of it is hard to remember because it is small rebuild stuff, not major mods.

Primary truck is a 02 F-150. Red with FX4 & Lariat packages. Factory LS with 3.73's.
Mods so far have been K&N FIPK along with Granatelli 80mm MAF and a 75mm throttle body to get air in, have a summit single in dual out cat back exhaust to get the air out. Throw in a supertuner 1715 programmer, Plasma booster ignition upgrade, Flex-A-Lite electric fan and under-drive pulley system. The trans has been upgrades with a Factory Tech valve body. Suspension changes have been limited to just cranking up the torsion bars to level and adding Firestone air bags to the rear along with Ranch 9000 shocks on all four corners. Body changes include a Cervinis Hood, Bull-Bar on front, roll-up tonneau cover and my KC lights. Right now just running Mud Rover tires on stock rims.
In the future I would like to go with slightly larger tires, maybe 315's and custom rims, and am looking at going full lockers in both ends.

Second truck is a 84 BII. It's still in the building stages. I am keeping the 2.8 for now but do have a 302 in the garage.
So far- It has the C-5 and am looking at upgrading it to the equivalent of a C-4. Have installed a 2" skyjacker lift and added 31X11.50 LTB's. The rear-end is Lincoln locked and the front is still open with 3.73 gears. The 2.8 I have changed over to a Duraspark ignition using a MSD 6A box, used a Holly 350 carb and changed the fan to a Flex-A-Lite electric. Other additions are headers going to just straight pipe out the rear, James Duff pre-runner front and rear bumpers that have been modified with tow hook points and receiver installation front and rear, James Duff skid plates. Future plans for this include lifting another 2-4 inches, going to 35" tires, locker for the front, upgrade trans to a C-4 ad will drop the gears to 4.11's then put a doubler in on the transfer case. The BII will probably be a continuing project that will never end.

Look again first thing 39" tires on rear 35" tires on front you need different gear ratios to make up for different tire sizes, second thing please note this is an offroad only full compitition vehicle we do things a little different in this case you want the front end faster than the rear.
