OK, I thought I posted this yesterday, but the gremlins must have deleted the post.
I have a 2003 SCrew XLT with power mirrors. What I would like are the OEM power SIGNAL mirrors. I found one aftermarket that looks like OEM with the Chevron <> symbols behind the mirrors. But at $200, it's a little hard for me to justify. I was hoping someone might know of anyplace to pick up some Ford mirrors cheaper.
I also looked at some "stick on" LED from EBay for $20. But I'm concerned they'd look cheap. And I haven't seen any OEM signal power mirrors pop up there yet in the past few weeks either.
I went through just what you are. Yes, the stick-ons look cheap. I got a pair of OE style signal mirror glass on eBay, which initially seemed good. After one winter, the mirrors' silvering failed. I later learned that the manufacturer had a recall, and apparently, I had been sold one of the bad pairs. Fortunately, Muth Mirror ( the OE manufacturer) did replace mine. I was also able to upgrade to the heated mirrors.
Because of the possibility that more defective mirrors are out there, you should be very careful who you buy from. It's not real quick to put them in, so even if they guaranty replacement, it may not be good enough. Frankly, if you want them that badly, you should probably get them direct from Muth.
PS: People really notice the signal mirrors, which helps alot when you want to change lanes!
The signal mirror has wires which plug into the existing mirror control harness in the door (at least it was existing on mine). The LED's draw very little current so don't require any further changes. But if you get heated mirrors, you may have to re-wire.
Muth sells a kit for converting. I believe it consists of the same basic parts as they supply to Ford for OEM, but they specifically do not sell the Ford parts directly.
Incidentally, I have an F150 Supercab. I believe your Supercrew has mirrors like the Expy which, although they look the same, are different internally. You should not assume that what works in a regular F150 will work in yours.`
