Which Engine?

Im embarassed to say that I do not know what type of engine is in my explorer. I have a 97 xlt with 4wd control trac and a 6 under the hood. My question is, do I have the ohv or sohc? Is there a way to decipher this from the vin? How can I tell? Thanks

The 8th digit in the VIN code. If it's "X" you have a OHV. if is "E" you have SOHC

And if the 8th is "P" it has the 5.0L
