Hey to all, I'm new around here, but I have already learned alot. I have a 2003 F-350, 6.0 wandering if anyone has any suggestions on a programmer or a chip that works well with this engine. I have already installed a 4" turbo back and would like to feed it a little better now. Thanks... PM's are welcomed
My take on it is there seems to issues w/ the 6.0 engines for the years prior to '05 & '06. The write ups here tend to show those earlier years had many issues arising w/ the new engines and lots of tubos blown, intercooler pipes off, etc. The posts for '05 & '06 seem to be A OK.
I have a 6.0, '06 and have run a SCT Xcal2 since day 20 w/o issues. Truck has 15K+ on it and all is well. This tuner allows many programing paramiters and updating of newer tunes. Run about $379 in Houston.
Do your own thing as I would be careful w/ an '03 6.0 . . .
If they ask you why you pulled the battery cables off, tell them you wanted to reset your radio and didnt know any other way.
be smart by being stupid
You have to remember, the guys at ford are not detectives.......they are mechanics. Plus, if they asked me why I removed my battery cables, i would look him directly in the eye and say "Because I felt like it." It's none of their business. I own the truck, i can remove the battery cables if i want to, and if they try to void your warranty or threaten you in any way, i'd find a new dealer.....You are the customer, you shouldn't fear them.......they should fear you
just a tip ! if you make any mistakes and the flash file is discovered this evidence is logged in to FOrd's data base for other dealerships to view, making it very hard to claim with warranty
I seriously do not recommend snapping + and - together.. There is only 1 way to discharge a Capacitor and this is not the method.. Your likely to cause MORE damage than save your rear from warranty claims.. So I have to disagree with the stated "connect the + and -", that is not something I would do completing the circuit like that is dangerous.. You need to isolate the Capacitor circuit completely before you can even consider discharging it. Even then it's still dangerous, Capacitors (depending on its type) can hold more charge than you think.. I suggest some folks do a little reading on Capacitors, its a lengthy process in which I would hate to bore you guys on..
Just my thoughts on it.. Yes for those who wonder, I hold a Bachelors in Engineering from the University of Texas. Although my studies are shifted more to Information Technology, the basis of Electrical is much the same in our field as any standard straight forward Electrical Engineer. Capacitors are used in everything from Computers to Automobiles.
Does anyone know what type of Capacitor they use in the PCM?
id just stick 2 new cheap batteries in if i know its going for a few thousand dollars worth of wk. and return them when the truck gets back to ya. so i disconnected them caus ei installed new batteries because it died or wouldnt start and thats a common problem with all cars these days dead batteries.
