Okay, did you ever hear that before the international diesel Ford went to Cat and said, we want you to build us a diesel for our pickups, heres the specs. Cat said these are the engines we have and will not spec out a engine for you! Ford and Cat could not work it out so they went with International. Ford dealer told me that years ago.
Guess we need myth-busters, lots of fun though! Old hens around the sewing cicle! He HE
Go to the cummins website and look at their frequently asked questions. It says Ford has nothing at all to do with cummins. Ford does not own cummins, or any shares for that matter. So stop continuing the rumors lol. And the next person I hear telling me that theres a twin turbo cat going into the SD, I'm going to flat lay them out without asking any questions. Period.
haha, I understand your frustration. There's some kid on here trying to tell me that 7.3L diesel engines, and even 6.0L's for that matter have no low end. It's comical. He says Cummins are the be-all and end-all.
Lol yea I think i was in the conversation. Hes wrong as far as the strokers not having any low end, because they do. But I do believe that cummins has more of it. Only thing is, the narrow powerband runs out quickly, unlike the stroker, which keeps an even amount of power.
the cummins may have more low end than the psd and a little bit lower down, but the psd holds its power longer and better. we've started out on about a 10% grade in a standard psd with about 13k pounds of logs on it in 2 hi before.

heres another to add to the list.
Take a look at 3112 cat motor, tell me it doesnt look ALOT like a PSD.
IH and cat actualy worked on the HEUI set-up together. so Cat does have a motor that is very similar, it ust got built 12 years to late.
the 3112 cat it strickly commercial. they are also very particular about settings excetra. fore instance we had one in at a shop the injestion timing was off by a hair (enough to be noticed in a diesel but still run ok) and this thing could barley idel. we re adjusted the injectores and away she went like it was brand new. yes the 3112 looks alot like the psd and are both rated in the same area psd 235 hp, 3112 at 225hp
In their medium duty applications, the 6.0L, or 365VT is rated around 235 hp, and 670? ft/lbs of torque. Ford changed the software to make more hp. That's where a lot of the problems associated with the 6.0L are derived from.
