A couple weeks ago my truck was sitting out in front of the house. While leaving for work noticed that my truck had been egged. As soon as I noticed I took it to the carwash but the damage was done. Two eggs hit the top of my cab, with splatter hitting my hood and both of the front fenders. Where the main egg hit it took the paint straight down to the metal. Neighbors 2004 silver Dodge was also hit on the door, except all that happened to his truck was a slight discoloration to the paint. Took it to several shops for estimates, around $1800. They're gonna have to strip the top of the cab, hood and both front fenders. I drive a 2004 Black Screw Lariet, I guess my question is, why did the egg tear up my truck so much worse than the Dodge? Is the Ford paint of lesser quality?
My new SCREW got egged when it was parked at a friends house. Luckily, had just stopped in for a minute and found the egg damage within minutes of it happening. Can only assume it was random drive by.
Was able to wash it off and suffered no damage whatsoever.
Sure wish I could have seen the little ****ers that did it though.
that sucks, must of just been some drivebys where they go for all the cars. i keep all our cars waxed because of this with a good coating even spraypaint comes off. i think yours is bad because of the color, black is hard to keep looking nice any imperfections will look horrible on the paint.
Yeah, lost the red paint on a Toyota truck the same way. Eggs ate the paint down pretty bad, never looked right on the hood and top. Just a shop truck but it was still annoying.
A couple coats of wax and a quick wash off is the best solution.
The Toyota had sat for three day weekend and nobody saw the egg- till it was too late.
Little darlings in the neighborhood do about ten thousand bucks damage a year to local folks. Can't punish the little dears, that might be bad for their egos...
Yeah, I guess I'll have to suck it up and just pay the deductable. I probably should've turned it into the police but never did. It's weird because I have an 86 F-150 with no clear coat and no wax and it didn't even touch the paint on that one either. Thinking they used the high power eggs on my 04.
That is a shame, damn kids anyway! I am surprised your insurance company did not require that you file a police report. I think you should contact the police anyway. They get paid to investigate and track things like this. I hope the new paint turns out okay. Good Luck!
I had my 04 egged on the side of a street not too long ago. My truck was the only one on the entire street that I saw, and I was 200 miles from home....The egg shell took some very small pieces of the paint out at the point of impact, but the paint did not fade. I am assuming in your case, the sun baked it on. From what I have heard, the sun is what does the damage once the egg is on there.
Had some punks egg my red bronco, it was while my daughter was being born, didn't think much about it but by the time i washed it some spots were down to bare metal, that was 5 years ago. got egged again about 2 months ago, washed the evil protein off my bronco and t-bird before it was too late. not sure why your neighbors truck didn't get it so bad, maybe the wax he uses, ask him what kind and report back.
I'm thinking the main reason my truck got it worse is due to the surface my truck got hit on compared to his. My truck was hit on the cab, a horizontal surface, his on the door. So I'm thinking mine not having anywhere to go and his running down the door along with the sun baking into my black truck may be the cause. Just a thought. Anyway, do you guys think it's too late to try to file a police report?
Last weekend I was going to go up to lake with family. Those of you out there that are like me every day you have to go do your rounds around your truck to make sure nothing has happened. Well here's where my weekend went to the crapper before I even started it. I had a circular dent on the driver's side door above the mirror between the block molding and the windshield. it was about a half inch wide and the same deep. It cause the paint to crack about 4-5 inches both ways going away from the dent. I just spoke with a body shop and come to find out, it was probably a high powered pellet or BB gun, from a fairly close distance. Let me tell you if I find the kid that did this, he and his dad will be crappin BBs for weeks.
