We have a 04 Escape with 25,000 on it and so far its been pretty good to us. Lately we've been having excessive noise coming from the front end. It sort of sounds like we are driving with huge mudders for tires. Thanks in adance for your help. We got the tires balanced and its still loud. The vehicle is still under warranty
I'd take it in but what is the noise? Tire noise? If so then I assume you have the Conti or General tires. There's nothing the dealership will do about them and your best bet is to purchase some decent tires.
We got it fixed a couple of weeks ago. It ended up being that the front bearings were bad. It is running great now. It always made that noise since we bought it brand new. With time it just got worse and worse as time went by. With i fixed I feel like e have a new car.
My wife's Escape had both front wheel bearings go bad with like 5K miles on it. Judging by the noise coming from the front end they need to be replaced again @ 75K
O-Oh
Our '03 Escape has made this type of noise since we got it, but you only hear it when cornering at speed. It makes the same noise whether its a left-hand or right-hand corner. I was worried at first, thinking it was bearings, but it definitely hasn't got any worse (had it almost a year now). The only way I can describe it is it goes 'dugga-dugga-dugga-dugga' quite fast
I had put it down to tyre noise on this vehicle, (Goodyear) now I'm worried again...

It could still be tire noise. The wheel bearings, rack, factory tires and stabilizer links seem to give people problems. My 02 Escape had tire issues (Americana SUV?) and the links went bad but no bearing issues by 85k miles. The 05 Escape has 34k and hasn't developed any noise issues yet.
The road noise compeltely changed when I changed tires on mine. The old Contis howled like no other, which may have been a part of the cupped wear they were showing on the rears, which only makes that worse. When I switched to a more aggressive all-terrrain tire, the Bridgestone Dueler Revos, it became Lexus quiet for the the frist 500 miles or so on them. They have developed an entirely different noise signature since. They make some muflfed helicopter noise around some low-speed 35mph or less corners, and a fair bit of roar between 40-50mph, but then it settles down again at highway speeds and is harldy distinguishable over other road noise and exhaust noise. I stuffed some leftover carpet remnants up into in the front footwells that have helped a little in muffling some of road noise, as well as under the load floor over and around the spare tire and under the seats and over the rear floor and passenger footwells, with a really heavy, plush carpeting we had laid in my grnadmother's house. Basically stuffed it in every nook and cranny, and luckily it matches the interior color pretty well for the parts that show. The vehicle just doesn't have very much sound insulation.
