Please excuse the term then. My point is that it is richer, and for it to knock/ping when it's rich, but not after it warms up and gets leaner, just doesn't make sense...see where I'm coming from?

okay, how is this for a clear post:

i use motorcraft filters.

i have never had a problem using motorcraft filters on ford vehicles.

I did have problems with fram filters in the past on a ranchero gt., problems went away when i used motorcraft.

When i bought this f150 it had a purolatar filter on it.

it had a clogged oil screen that had to be replaced.

after i put that in i used motorcraft oil filter because of my good experiences in the past with them.

the purolatar oil filter may or may not have been part of the problem, i do not know.

i am aware that motorcraft oil filters are made my purolatar.

all i am suggesting is that if in any way the oil filter has anything to do with his problem, than replace it with a motorcraft oil filter.

Did you ever check for codes in the computer?

Sorry for being a pest, Blurry, I see where you were leading with your comments.
