have your tried getting the codes if their is any what was done during tune up did the problem happen before or after tune up and just because what kind of fuel do you run
This start after the tune up or the tune up was done in attempt correct the problem? If started after the tune up I'd take a good look at the parts that where used.
long after the tune up, its been doing it more and more and now it is losing power going up hills. been running regular fuel but maybe i need higher grade fuel
well i wont say you need higher octane fuel but it could help the issue until you get it resolved pinging is usually pre ignition and what about trouble codes it could be alot of thing could be your truck is running lean and getting real hot or timing and so on but i would look for codes first if you can if it were me i would want a look at the plugs but not always the case no need to start their
If your truck has a MAF, it would be worthwhile to clean it, especially if you're running an oiled air filter (like a K&N). Also, verify that you don't have any vacuum leaks.
pulling the codes not an option right now its any ones guess usually unless it was an extreme case a dirty mas air flow would not cause pre detonation unless your truck is running real lean and real hot how about idiot lights are you sure your truck is actually pinging does the pinging happen all the time
the pinging is happining going up steep hills at about 3000 rpm and loses power. last night i was on the highway and had to slow down so it would stop. and the temp gauge was going up and down but never real high
went to work today up a big hill and no ping and drove much better. now the brake question? when I go to stop I get a shaking of the truck like with out of round drums. but I put all new rotors and drums on it. can the abs valve on the frame cause this?
