Went to the junkyard last week and found a good front grille surround. I am going to get it on Saturday however there's one little problem. It has the hood latch release on the interior of the truck. The release has a lock on it...argh So, without the keys for the lock how does one open the hood to get at the goodies?
If the keys aren't available I would just unbolt the bracket holding the hood release from the dash and cut the outer cable around with a hacksaw, leaving the inner intact, then just give it a yank. It should open the hood.
that hood lock may be worth more than the grille! try unbolting the assembly so you can open it a little more and then use a stubby screw driver to remove the cable cover and then just pop it. grab all of the locks on the truck and take them to a locksmith and he will make a new key for less than 10.00. i have sold several sets on e-bay lately at 60-90 for the hood lock with latch assy, 2 door locks ign lock and glove box lock. easy money. hawkrod
