How is the Trailblazer not a Truck? I think petey-250 needs to stop with the kool-aid They are both great suvs that's why they are the 2 best selling mid-sized suv's. I personally like the Trailblazer I test drove one it had a smooth ride great power and it looks mean from the outside not to mention there is an SS model the only thing that sucks is the crap interior.
My wife owns one and its fine. The only problems we have had were the power windows and the dealer fixed them with no questions asked. About the windows though they fell down into the door lol. I got a 2004 f150 4x4 xlt and guess what? Traded a 2002 chevy 2500hd in on it. I dont regret it one bit.
the explorer looks good and so does the trailblazer. that is opinionated as is the interior. gm wins every interior war ford/gm gm/dodge it doesn't matter.
some people get lemons, and obivously someone here got one.
why can't your husband wear the seatbelt? i am 6-2 and i have no problems. i perfer them of the ones that cut into your neck.
explorer has IRS how is that a truck? lol i can't waite for this debate AGAIN!

You just stated that it was subjective...then you go and say that.
I'd take the Explorer anyday over the Trailblazer for looks. I can't stand that extremely low trademark GM front end, with the wimpy looking grill, and fascia features.
I'd rather have a nice flush, semi-symmetrical Ford interior than an "O-shiat" bar ladaned passenger dash board GM interior. The A-pillars are to fat with plastic...that's annoying and obstructive, and the overall dash layout has something to be desired.
That's just me though...I can see how you GM guys think you know what looks good. I mean, look at your 'awesome' looking trucks with your sweet looking uni-brow clearance lights, and SD copied towing mirrors. LMAO...I love the way GM mounted those things too...at a little angle, just to be a little different I suppose.

Maybe, maybe not.

So is the Trailblazer...what's your point? If you want to take that arguement one step further, what the hell is IFS doing on a GM 1-ton truck?
Fuel mileage on both are similar, the edge going to the 4x2 model Explorer.
I used to have a 2002 TrailBlazer and that I6 is weak. I don't know where that 275 horses went but it wasn't to the rear wheels. On top of that the interior was ugly and very cheap, and I had the LT.
I sold it after a few months and bought a 2003 Tahoe Z71, that suv has alot more power. I didn't get the expedition because they didn't impress me as much as the new ones do. They didn't have the 3v yet
Interesting story about the IFS feature. The public was told that the GMT360 (short wheelbase Trailblazer, Envoy, etc) was not produced with an independent rear suspension because it would "impact trailer towing capability". Meanwhile Ford had hired some top notch suspension people away from BMW to work on the Explorer's rear suspension and when it came out it not only had an independent rear but a higher trailer towing rating than GM's solid axle setup. For an interesting perspective on GM check out "The Real Truth About Cars.com" They have a continuing series called "General Motors Deathwatch" and from here in Flint, MI (birthplace of General Motors) it's spot on.
Another good article in this morning's Wall Street Journal about GM running ads in Miami showing Cadillacs being driven in snow and GM wondering why "in a vibrant market GM has bombed for the past 15 years."
ya i was laughing because "all" of the ford guys say that the gm is not a truck because it has IFS, yet the explorer has IFS and IRS and it is a truck. lol back and forth back and forth. i don't get it. IFS and IRS is a heck of a lot better than SRA/SFA when both are set up properly. IS advantages can't be denied.
dmp- the media is just that media. nothing more nothing less. you are lucky to get any truth from it at all. if you believe all of that stuff, i have a bridge to sell you.
The I6 weak? how do you figure the Trailblazer is not light and it runs a 15.7 in the 1/4 the Tahoe is 16.5 and compared to any other standard motor it blows it away 291hp is not weak. The Trailblazer is not perfect but has more good than bad.
The Trailblazer that I drove while my explorer was in the body shop was not weak, but in most day to day situations it was not making the horsepower when you needed it. It did not feel responsive. Sure you could flog it and get it to move, but it did not seem effortless like it should with that much horsepower. Conpromises have to be made when engineering a vehicle to reach the desired outcome. What is good for some may not be good for others. I have to say I liked the smoother ride of the Trailblazer, but not the sluggish handling, another compromise. Fit and finish were a little off also. As a total package I prefer the explorer.
