The trailblazer is one of GM's uglier design's (as if they didn't have enough ugly stuff) , and it looks cheap. The new Explorer has a 292hp 3V 4.6 mated to a 6 speed. This thing will absolutely rip, no doubt about that, and get good mileage to boot with the 6 speed. Do I need to go on?

you know that country soing "I shoulda been a cowboy..." Well I sing that to my chevy buddies whenever they have a problem, only I change it to "I shoulda got a ford truck..."

Mom bought a TB back in January. It's an 04, but it was brand new, so they got a good deal on it, and all she'll own is Chevy (meanwhile, there ARE 3 fords in the driveway besides hers). 12 hours (yes, twelve hours!!) after they bought it, it was being towed back to the dealer. Wouldn't start. She still hasn't lived that one down!

I think Id get a explorer. The trailblazer has to be the most problematic vehicle Chevy makes. Even the Chevy forum where I visit once in a while had a thread on the most unrelaible vehicle made an the Trailblazer won hands down. Everybody I know has problems that has one. Time for your mother to get an explorer. Live an learn.

Mom has an 02 Explorer 4.0, and my Grandma has an 02 Trailblazer 4.2. The Chevy is quicker, but it really has to rev to feel the difference. The Explorer gets the better mileage and has more than enough power. It pulled Dad's 18.5' inboard/outboard with 305 V-8 very well, haven't pulled with the TB. Neither one has had any problems, but the Explorer has a much more solid feel than the TB. The TB has a softer ride, but the Explorer feels more stable and in control. The TB has softer seats, but the Explorer seats fit me better and are more supportive. After comparing the two, if I were to choose, I would get the Explorer. The TB is a much better option than the Blazer it replaced, but the Explorer to me is still the better choice. I would think with the 3v V8 that the 06 Explorer will be very impressive and probably still get decent mileage.

Hey cars get problems when I bought my 89 ranger years back it broke down 5 miles from the dealership and it was my first ford. But I know it's a machine and they break.

From: Destin/Ft. Walton Beach,
One of my partners just bought an Envoy with a V-8 for his wife. I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as a Trail Blazer. The seats are plush and comfy, and it rides and drives great. A lot of the interior is plastic though, and looks a little cheap. Maybe it's just the color of blue it is. The paint job is pretty good too. When I got a chance to drive it, I put the pedal to the metal (like he did when he drove my Lightning). The tires barely broke loose (just a little rubber), but I'm sure it has some kind of traction control. The Envoy drives pretty "car like", except during rapid lane changes, and on roads with "truck grooves" sunk in.
Another co-worker just bought an Explorer. The interior was a little better looking then the Envoy, but I didn't like the seats as well. Maybe they'll be better after some butt time breaks them in. I liked the leather in the Envoy better too. Not as much electronics gadgetry in the Ford, but I don't go for that stuff anyhow. For all I know, the same electronics may be available in the Ford too. Paint was as good as the Envoy, except for a little orange peel. The zero to sixty felt quicker on the Ford, but no numbers to back that up. I didn't try to burn the tires on the Explore, since there the men in blue were all over the place. I did make a couple of quick lane changes with it, and the Explorer felt as stable as my Lightning, even though it sits up higher. Must be the rear diff? After driving both trucks with an open mind, the Explorer would be my choice between the two.

Gee, my wife settled on the Olds Bravada ( an upscale trailblazer ) 2002.
Even the dog chews on it! The leather seats have claw marks and the auto shifter has teeth marks.
Ok vehical but the dog does not like it!

After driving my 95 Explorer for 9 years, I bought an 04 Trailblazer. The ONLY thing I like about it is that it rides nicer and it has better pickup (when it doesn't hesitate!). Otherwise, it is noisy with the moonroof open (crappy design), the seats totally suck and it is less roomier. The battery light is coming on now and 3 of us haven't been able to figure out how to reset that darn oil change senser. I feel like for what I paid for it, I got less features than what I could have gotten on an Explorer. It's going in the shop tomorrow. I like the Trailblazer, but I don't love it like I did my Explorer. OH and the gas mileage? That's another story....I'm ready to go hybrid! Seriously! Oh, I gave the Explorer to my son. 171,000 miles and still going strong! A few nicks and a few small problems, but I'd take it back any day!

To reset the oil light turn the vehicle off but leave the key to the on position. Depress the gas pedal 3x's

It looks like the explorer wins out over the trailblazer in durability an comfort features.

Read page one, then follow and read page two, I think it's been mentioned a couple time that the trailblazer has horrible reliability.

My wife has a trailblazer

Great motor and performance.
Great ride.
Pretty good milage.

Seems to cramped for me.
Has been in the shop a few times for a couple minor things - blinker relay etc.

Overall not to bad
