fuel questions

Hello , problem is my fuel gauge. I bought this truck a month ago and thought the front tank was empty, the gauge read that way so I tried to fill it but it seems full.my sending unit must be bad.What I need to know is how much does the front tank on a 92 f-250 hold, I don't want to run the truck dry but need to empty it check it out. I also have a '92 F250. I believe the front tank holds 19 gal. I'll check my owners manual tonight and if it's different I'll let you know.

Could be the sending unit or the FSV (fuel selector valve).....if you want the FSV test email me.......subject FSV test.

I had the same problem.I removed the sending unit and cleaned the contact point with a pencil eraser.Works like a new one.I also had to change the FSV.

Thanks for the feedback,I switched to the front tank so I can empty it.I will try cleaning the contacts and check the valve. I also cleaned my k&n filter and hardly any smoke now,I get a little puff of black smoke before the turbo spools up when I get on it I guess that probably normal. Thanks Craig

definitly check the contacts on the sendingunit. I had the same problem on my 85 f250, and cleaning the contacts worked. My midship tank holds 20 gal.
