Fuel Gauge does not work

I have a 96 F150 with duel fuel tanks, the fuel gauge works with the rear tank on , but not with the front tank, I ran the front tank completely out of gas, I filled the tank and the gauge did not move off of empty.

Fuel Gauge does not work

I have a 94 model that does the exact same thing, same tank. The front tank works intermittently on mine, however. I assumed the front tank's sending unit was going bad. Let us know what you find.

Maybe even a loose, broken, or corroded wire on top of the tank or at the switch.

Hi everyone and welcome to FTE newbies! I had the same problem. As jrs_big_ford_f150 says.. It may be a wire has corroded and broken off. I wasn't going to run my tank out of fuel and remove it for a wire, so I used an alligator clip spliced the wire to it and clamped it back onto what was left of the terminal on the sending unit. You guys may be lucky and still have a full terminal and you can splice on a new female connector. Good luck and get back to us.... We're nosey!!! Talk with you guys later....
