Ok so my trucks got the 2 tanks and when it's on the rear tank the gauge works fine but if I put it to the front tank it doesn't work and jut reads empty. Any ideas? Anyone else experience this problem?
I had this problem on my 91 250. I dropped the tank and replaced the sending unit float. They get pinholes and fill up with fuel over time. I have an extra I could send you for the price of shipping. It could also be the sending unit and pump are shot.
mine reads full till i get to about 1/4 tank than goes back and forth for a bit and than sits on empty any ideas as to what is causing this? i have the dual tank setup and it does it front and rear

It's mostlikey the fuel splashing around in the tanks, causing the gauge to fluctuate.
Dropping the tank isn't that bad. Just soak the bolts in a penetrating lube of your choice. If that dosent work just pick up some new straps and cut the old ones. That's what I did. Also be careful when you take it down and the filler hose is attached, I cut mine because I didn't have the patience to work at it. When I put it back on I had to stretch the hose, so make sure you take your time.
I'm not on to often so I'm just getting to all this now still haven't dropped the tank but am slowly getting to that I'm just running it dry first since gas is about 6lbs a gallon I want as little in there as possible. Say it is the sending unit any recommendations for a certain brand of parts?
