Best flashlights?

I was looking for some new bulbs for my 6-cell, and found the kit. A couple of cents short of $8.00.
You take out the original reflector and the bulb, and pop in the LED 'kit.'
Twist the lid back on and you're done. The kit only works one way. Plug it in one direction, nothing. The correct way. . .
Two minutes. . . . presto. . . LED. BRIGHT as daylight.
The LED kit is not a focused beam, now. Just BRIGHT! I can't look at the light for more than a second, or two, tops!
I'd like to get one of these kits for my D cell Maglite. (IF they make one!)
I suppose that the home centers or maybe Radio Shack might carry them, too.

I guess there's a forum for everything, including a forum on forums.
I do NOT like the 2, 3 or more c-cell or d-dell.
Pelican or Streamlight is the way to go (IMO).
I know Pelican ha a lifetime warranty. If it ever breaks, they replace it free.
Batteries Plus has a good selection of flashlights you can check out.
In the perfect world where you have brand new batteries on hand, I'll go with Maglite, but in reality, what ever puts out the light when you need it is a beautiful thing..........................I don't much care what brand it is.
We went for over a week without power last year during hurricane season (90+ degree weather to boot - some record highs), we have just about every kind of flashlight, were limited on battery supply however. We had/have a generator, but it just happened to be over 300 miles away and we didn't have the gonads enough to get another one on FEMA just for the convienence since the gov. was paying for it. Instead, we fed off the neighbor who hand wrote his own receipt for a generator that he's had for years and got reimbursed by FEMA for a current purchase.
I guess his old/new purchase was comperable to the people in Miami that got paid for SNOW damage.
Sorry - got off the subject there a bit - the best flash light is the one that works when you need it............................

Has mag come out with a small LED unit yet? I'd buy that right now.
Incidentally, on a whim, I bought an LED flaslight tonight off the rack at the checkout at the grocery store. It was like 4 bucks, smaller than half a 2xAA maglite and I was shining it in my eyes to see how bright it was and I was seeing spots for 10 minutes... it's bright, brighter than me maybe... You can't focus the beam like a mag but in a pinch it will be there for me on my keychain for those trips to the outhouse. I find it very illuminating.
