I have been doing alot of thinking these past few weeks & realized that I don't need to be here. Instead, I beleive I'm going to seek out something that is more important to me.
A LIFE.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that any of you don't have a LIFE. I'm saying that I don't. I have lived in this town for 8 months and I can honestly say that I don't know anyone. I have 1 real life friend (one that I have met & know) and he happens to live in Louisianna. I have nothing local & to ad to the hardship, I'm single.
I may still come in here once in awhile (I doubt it though), but not as frequent. I need to start going out & meeting people, making friends, perhaps lose my single status, & perhaps I will once again have a LIFE.
The time has come for me to hit submit & then log out of the FTE program. Besides, I'm a Chevy lover - what the hell was I doing here?
I echo that thought, really. Not to tit-for-tat, but being offshore for a year-and-a-half really shrunk my social circle. Oh, yeah, when you talk to the same two handfuls of folks for all that time on a boat, the social skills go to hell. Thankfully, I am getting that back pretty quickly.
I may be mistaken, but I thought you operated a big-rig full-time. Truck driving cuts you off from society.
I worked inside, and sat at a workbench or desk for 20 years in one plant or another, and the social scene was always a benefit of employment. After- work parties, Christmas parties, and socializing at lunch and break time are a big part of working 8 to 10 hours a day surrounded by the same people everyday. In Fact, I met my wife at work, which isn't an uncommon thing for many couples.
I have been driving a tractor trailer for only 4 years now, and I have been getting more and more distant from old friends and family as time goes by. The hours are long, and you are usually far from home. When friday comes along and I have a chance to meet the "boys" after work for a beer or a game of poker, I usually miss the chance because either, I am still out on the road, or I'm too exhausted to hang out with my friends.
Good Luck, get a life for yourself and try to be happy. Ben
Parks, it takes a real man to say that. i wish you the best of luck. take care of your kiddo's, find them a good mama. my circle of friends has always been small, i hope to someday make it larger. again, the best of luck to you.
Balance in life can sometimes be most difficult, finding that balance will be rewarding, and going in only one direction at a time ...might not be the answer...tasting a bit of what life has to offer…on many different fronts …is usually satisfying and fulfilling.
NO matter what you find enjoy it, life is short, so have fun~!~
I wish you good luck in whatever you do. I hope you still drop in occasionally, but I understand you have to make your own choices. Most of all I hope you do go out, socialize and have a good time. I hope you meet someone special soon. Take care.
I never talked to you one on one Parks, but I read and laughed at a lot of your posts. Best of luck to you brother...hope to read you around here again sometime.
Looks to me like you have plenty of friends here man.
I'm sure that alot of us here spend too much time on the computer. Go out and meet folks and when times are quiet come back and say 'hello' from time to time.
Sayin bye is fine, but never say goodbye.
I've enjoyed you're posts and I would feel like we would lose a friend here, if you don't come back and visit.
Variety is the spice of life.
Try a little of alot of things.
Take time to stop and smell the roses.
Everything in moderation.
Make sure your cup is always half full.
It's all about balance.
Follow your heart.
Enough cliché - best of luck and I hope you find what you are looking for!
Life is too short and time too precious to be wasted by merely existing instead of really living. Good luck to you in your quest. I hope you find those things that make life a joy. Contentment is a wonderful thing.
