What woud you do?
Have the money to do one of two things this month.
Replace front shocks ... there shot
or
Replace high back pressure muffler with free flowing one ... big mileage/
performane boost and I can finish carb/distributor recalibration.

I agree the engine is the last component I worry about (unless it doesn't run at all) steering, brakes, and suspension in that order are the priorities once those are all in good order then worry about performance, and mileage.

Well you guys are right but I ordered the muffler first. Why its going to take almost a month to get the muffler (at best price) shocks only a couple days. I dont drive the truck much its a work vehicle tows my boat or 18 x 8 utility trailer or a trip to the local Home Depot etc. Not planning on any hiway trips for about a month and a half. Not towing the big boat except a few blocks to fill with gas for the winter probably wount get over 20 MPH doing that. Hauling the boat on the hyway got scarry the last trip. The new portion of 696 around Detroit has got to be one of the worst repave jobs ever.
