01 Navigator blowing fuses
I have an 01 Lincoln Navigator with the alpine stereo system. My fiance was driving my truck when the stereo went dead. She could not offer any description other than it just quit working and that she didnt have it turned up very loud.
I remember that every once in a great while I would hear a clicking sound and a momentery cut to the stereo power when I put the drivers side window down.
I tried to replace fuse number 1 for the stereo that was blown, but it blew the second I put it in. I also replaced the stereo relay. Both of these were in the fuse box under the dash on the drivers side.
I removed the fuse box and gem module. The gem looked like brand new and was dry. From the outside, the fuse panel appeared to be in fine shape. Was afraid of breaking it, so I did not take it apart to look inside. When I buttoned everything up I left the stereo totally unhooked and removed. Still blew the fuse the second it was put in.
The truck does not appear to have ever had any aftermarket stereo equip. The previous owner had a phone kit in, as evident by the mic on the a pillar. Traced the wire and it was not hooked to anything.
I have no wiring diagram for this truck and have no idea where to look for my problems. I have hooked up stereo systems in the past, but never had to trouble shoot a factory one. Its much easier trouble shooting aftermarket as the wires are obvious. With stock, I have no idea what is what. I really appreciate any help anybody can offer. Goin nuts without my radio.

Thanking you in advance,
Mark
Radio head unit
Subwoofer Amp
Navigation system display and module (if installed)
CJB fuse F31 (10A)
I'd disconnect the sub amp and the nav system components and see if the short circuit goes away.
