So. Hooked up aftermarket stereo into the truck. Followed how the prev. Owner hooked up a different stereo which was am/fm with a tuning dial instead of digital. So I first hooked up the constant and accessory wires to the same wire. Then the stereo wouldn't stop reverting to demo mode. So I hooked up the constant wire to the cig lighter and now it's been draining my battery. Any ideas?
The OEM radio was powered by a GREEN 2-terminal pigtail. YELLOW with a BLACK stripe is switched power, BLUE with RED stripe is dash illumination. Do not mistake the BLUE with RED stripe wire for ground. The OEM radio grounded through its mounting chassis. The speakers were connected over a separate pigtail.
Ok I looked behind the glove box and found a connection the goes off the green and yellow. GREEN with YELLOW stripe wiring is hot-at-all-times power for the courtesy lamp circuit, use that.
There is a 3-connector pigtail behind the glove box (which also goes on to power the cigarette lighter).
It's not the stock radio wire because the stock radio didn't need hot-at-all-times power (EXCEPT the factory digital AM radio for clock memory).
solid black—power
blue with red stripe--dial light
black with gray dashes—ground
orange with green dashes--right speaker
white with green dashes--left speaker
assuming an AM/FM stereo and stock wiring harness.
purple is ground, right speaker is white and left speaker is orange.
Sorry. Was abducted by aliens. Jk. Was working. All the presets stay but the battery still drains. The battery is like 3 weeks old. Just bought it out of Walmart but it looks considerably smaller than the one that was in it when I purchased the truck but the Walmart guide says it's the right one and so does check(refuse to call it the new name)

The drain from your radio should be a minor thing. It may be a result of another electrical issue. You say you replaced the battery 3 weeks ago. Have you checked out your alternator/regulator also?
I jumped it Monday and ran it for a bit and as of today it's still good. I think the alt is good. I'll wait till Saturday when I have time to dig into the stereo.
Ok so the aftermarket stereo that was in the truck when I bought it had the red and yellow wires hooked up to this blue wire that's connected to the yellow w/black stripe and a light blue wire. What are these???
Ok I charged up the battery and disconnected the stereo from the cig lighter and left it connected to the green connector that comes off the yellow/brown and light blue/red wires as pictured above. Still draining the battery. I'm debating just hooking it up to the fuse box as a last resort. At ideas??
