stiff gear shift for 97

stiff gear shift for 97
I have had a 3 in body lift on my truck for a few years now. My gear shift was stiff right when i lifted it, and i heard that it was normal, and it would go away. Well, mine has not gone away and i do not know why. If you need to know, i have a 1997 f-150 4x4 ext cab with auto trans and 4.6 L engine. Can someone please tell me how to fix this or if there is even a fix to this problem?
