Question Third Brake Light

Hello All,

Got a newbie here...first post.

Installed a used fiberglass pick-up topper on my 2001 F150 Supercrew and for the life of me, I can not find a brake light wire in the rear trailer wiring harness to wire my third brake light. I have both the 4 flat and the large 6 round plug-in's at the rear bumper. I can only find a stop/turn combo wires for both the right and left turn w/stop, not just a stop light wire only.

Does anyone have an idea as to how and where I can pick-up a stop only wire for my third brake light to run to the topper??? Thanks in advance for your help!

Jim

There should be an eight-pin connector (C300), wire is a DG #569 on pin 8 of the connector.

C300 is located at the base of LH "B" pillar, that is by the drivers left hand if he drops his arm straight down while sitting in the drivers seat.

Thanks 'subford' for your reply... but being a not so handy mechanic, what color or what is a DG #569? Do I have to take apart the interior pillar trims to access this connector?

Yes you will have to take apart the interior pillar trims to access the connector at this point.

This wire is also accessable at C200 behind LH cowl panel, near your left foot.

Also at the Brake ON/OFF SWITCH AS WIRE # 511 Light Green.

And a good place if you have an automatic transmission and Speed Control is at the Clutch Pedal Position Switch Jumper as wire #511 Light Green.

DG = DARK GREEN and 569 is the ford wire number.

Ford has a standard set of colors and wire numbers they use for various applications and they use the same ones from year to year.
