I'ts about time! I've been waiting for 6 mo to start this. Take one 1967 short bed ford, Add one 1976 cad eldorado and mix well!! This will be my 3rd "fordarado" The first one was sold right after I got it drivable. Number 2 is still awaiting the body work[ extended crew cab w/"car-trailer/drag-boat trailer welded to frame]. It's amazing Just how easy it is to put 67-72 Pu sheet metal on a Eldorado Chassis. There just is'nt any way to explain the looks you get when you lite the fire on the 500 ci cad v-8 and do a burn-out with the FRONT wheels!! I took video of the last build but no stills. This time I will take still's and post them for all to see. If anybody else wants to build one I will post the directions. Time to start welding!! FABMANDELUX.
I see the chevy truck conversions constantly in the car trader books. FWD, chevy cab with car trailer back half. Neat concept...........but, I'm not a real fan of them. Just not me, I guess.
Yah,Yah,Yah!! So i'ts not all ford. I'm A FABRICATOR!! It's what i've done for the last 40 years. I've put a flathead in a Nash Metro, and a 427 side oiler in a datsun pu. I enjoy doing things that nobody else is doing! If it eases your mind any I just bought a 1" piece of alu plate, and will put it in my bridgeport mill and plan on building an adapter plate to bolt one of my 428 cj's to the GM transaxle. The reason for building it in the first place?? IT"S A HOT ROD!!!!!!! FABMANDELUX.
fabmandelux, Sounds like you have done a lot of custom projects in your time. You will start a real peeing contest here when you start talking about cross breeding Ford trucks. I'll bet you have done some great all Ford projects too that you can share with the group, and make my job easier.
What's the chance that you would make it easy for the ol moderator, and not start fires that Jared or I will have to put out.
Sorry John, I did'nt mean to start anything! I've been a FORD man all my life, but i've never let that blind me to trying other things! I also have a chopped, and channeled 35 FORD project thats built on a ford courer frame, fits like a glove, and i did'nt have to pay $$$$$$$ for a custom frame. I presently have 9 ford pickups,my 67 ranger is being RESTORED for a gift for my daughter, so I don't always "butcher" fords! FABMANDELUX.
Thanks man, I am afraid that this bunch is pretty hard core Ford, and more flame wars would be started and raging that we would be spending all of our time putting them out. I am just doing my Smokey the Bear rueteen, Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires.
Sounds like you are really talented, and we can all learn from you. I bet you have a lot that you can offer this group without going down that trail.
It sounds like a pretty cool project, and should turn out real nice. At least the body's right.
Now, as long as you don't talk about making a Ranger like that in the image of a VW pickup...........
