problem with cam and distributor gear on a 400
Ok my truck quit runing so I checked everything and it turns out that the distributer gear that drives the oilpump and the dist has worn about half its teeth off how do I tell if the cams bent of the distrubuters bent
PS the dist is remanufactured and so the enginge it also has a HV oil pump
I picked up a accel plug and play distributer for it but dont wan to put it in if itll just get ate up

HV oil pump and what weight of oil are you running? is the gear worn evenly around itself or only on one side? is the cam in the engine stock ?
if you want to check the dizzy shaft at home, you can chuck the threads of a machine screw with a 5/16" hex head(screw gun bit drivers have 5/16" shafts) into a drill and set the distributor onto the 5/16" hex and turn it to see how straight she spins. hold onto everything! check your drills max rpm and remember that the distributor turns at 1/2 engine speed. a 2500rpm drill will equal 5000 engine rpm.
